Wisebros is proud to partner with Stopson Italiana, a global leader in acoustic engineering, to deliver cutting-edge vent silencer systems for industrial applications. Together, we provide tailored solutions designed to minimize noise emissions from pressurized exhaust systems, ensuring regulatory compliance and operational safety.
What Are Vent Silencers?
Vent silencers reduce noise generated by exhausting pressurized gases—including steam, air, nitrogen, natural gas, oxygen, and CO₂—into the atmosphere. Positioned downstream of devices such as safety valves and blowdown tanks, they play a critical role in mitigating noise pollution while also managing system backpressure.
These silencers use a combination of:
- Reactive elements to control low-frequency broadband noise
- Absorptive materials to capture high-frequency sound energy
Depending on the application, silencers may be reactive, absorptive, or a hybrid design, offering noise attenuation up to 75 dB(A).
Applications
Ideal for a wide range of industrial settings, vent silencers are compatible with:
- Pressure Safety Valves (PSV)
- Pressure Relief Valves (PRV)
- Ejectors and Control Valves
- Start-Up and Snort Valves
- Flash and Blowdown Systems
How to Specify Your Vent Silencer
To ensure optimal performance, key parameters should be considered:
- Type of gas (steam, air, etc.)
- Operating pattern (continuous or intermittent)
- Flow rate, pressure, and temperature
- Allowable backpressure
- Pipe diameter and connection type
- Required noise level or residual sound pressure
Featured Stopson Models
SPM Series
Primarily reactive silencers, optionally hybrid with absorptive chambers. Ideal for high-flow, high-backpressure scenarios. Optimized with:
- Multi-inlet configurations
- Compact cylindrical or rectangular designs
- Lightweight and cost-effective structure
PSP Series
Best for low-flow environments with strict backpressure limits:
- PSP 35: Absorptive-type with expansion chamber
- PSP 45: Hybrid with concentric expansion and absorption stages
Both models offer high-efficiency sound absorption with minimal flow disruption.
Customization & Options
Stopson silencers can be tailored with:
- Flanged or welded connections
- Expansion joints
- Anti-bird mesh and rain hoods
- CE-marked diffusers
- Spark arrestors for hazardous environments
- Paint cycles and testing options (PMI, NDT)
