Wisebros, the official UK partner of Stopson Italiana, offers a full range of high-performance engine exhaust silencers engineered to reduce industrial noise in diesel and gas engines, as well as low to medium power gas turbines. Developed in Stopson’s research laboratories and tested across numerous industrial applications, these silencers utilize absorption and/or resonance-based sound attenuation technologies to ensure compliance with stringent noise regulations.
Available Models
Five models are available based on the required attenuation level:
- SM 15
- SM 25
- SM 30
- SM 40
- SM 50
Each silencer code also reflects the nominal inlet diameter, e.g., SM15 ND 100, SM25 ND 200, SM30 ND 250, SM40 ND 125.
Silencer Selection Criteria
Selection should be based on:
- The octave band sound pressure or sound power level of the engine exhaust
- The residual sound pressure level required at a defined location
- Or the overall sound attenuation performance needed
Silencer Descriptions & Operating Principles
SM 15 / SM 25 – Absorption-Type Silencers
SM15 and SM25 silencers utilize a straight-through absorption principle. Exhaust gases flow through a sound-insulated passage lined with high-efficiency acoustic absorbent material protected by perforated steel sheeting. Both inlet and outlet configurations are axial.
SM 30 – Hybrid Resonance and Absorption Silencer
The SM30 model combines both resonance and absorption principles. Exhaust gases first pass through an expansion chamber lined with sound-absorbing material, then continue through an insulated passage. Inlet configuration is radial, outlet is axial.
SM 40 / SM 50 – Advanced Resonance and Absorption Silencers
These silencers incorporate a reactive chamber composed of two volumes connected via a Venturi system, followed by a sound-proofed passage. Inlet may be either axial or radial; outlet is axial.
Stopson Engine Double Inlet Exhaust Silencer
Key Features
- Maximum Temperature: 450°C
- Maximum Operating Pressure: 4900 Pa
Protective Coating
All silencers are coated internally and externally with high-temperature-resistant paint for durability and long-term performance.
Installation Guidelines
- SM 15 / SM 25: Installed directly in the exhaust piping system. Flow direction must be respected.
- SM 30 / SM 40: To be installed as close to the engine as possible. Flow direction must be respected.
Available Options
- Flanges and counter flanges
- Gaskets and bolts
- Mounting supports for vertical or horizontal installation
- Stainless steel or other special materials upon request
- High-temperature-resistant absorbent material (for applications exceeding 530°C)
- Integrated spark arrestors
